I recently read up on Meridith's blog and am loving the videos! I decided to try it out myself. Being so far away from family has me scrambling for any and every way in which we can connect. And my cousin, Baby Lindsey, is growing up without me! I really want her to know me! And my little nephews!
I'm embarrassed to say that I've been following Paris Hilton's new show, My BFF, in which she basically auditions girls to be her new "best friend forever."
It's ridiculous.
But I can't stop watching it. It's like a horrible car accident in which I know people are going to be injured, but I have to watch anyway. Surprisingly, I have come to like Paris Hilton more over the course of this experience and was impressed by her final selection, Brittany.
I was shocked to hear people toss words around, though. Words that had always held so much meaning to me, like "friend" and "I love you." To me, the word "friend" means someone who has stood the test of time. Someone whom you can trust, not because you call them your BFF, but because they have proven it over and over again. It's not someone you pick out of a crowd. It's not someone who worships and adores you. It's someone who has told you the truth when no one else would, when it was difficult for them but priceless to you. It's someone who drives you to work when you have to take your car to the shop. It's someone who texts you just because they haven't heard from you in awhile. It's someone to whom you can cry and vent.
